What fades first

The small things are the first to go.

Not the birthdays. The saying at the door, the recipe from memory, the night they met. Foretold keeps each one in the chapter where it belongs.

Chapter one

Who they are

Ask anyone who knows Dad and they'll tell you the same thing: he can fix anything with tape and patience, and the tape is usually the part that works.

The night my car broke down at 2 a.m., he came in his pyjamas with a flask of coffee, and never said a word about it the whole drive home.

“Measure twice, cut once.”

What it is

What Foretold is

  • A made-to-order book about someone you love.
  • Written only from the memories you share.
  • A free preview of the first pages before you buy.
  • Your own letter, printed in your own words.
  • Digital, hardcover, or both. Ready in 2 to 3 weeks.
What it isn't

What Foretold isn't

  • Not a template with a name filled in.
  • Not a fill-in journal they have to write themselves.
  • Not a year of weekly emails before you see a book.
  • Not invented: we never make up facts.
  • Not a subscription.

Questions, answered.

Is the preview really free?

Yes. Answer the first questions (about 8 minutes) and we write the opening pages of their book and paint a cover from your answers. You only pay if you want the full book.

Do they need to fill anything in?

No. You tell the story from your memories, so it can be a complete surprise. You can invite a sibling or aunt to add a story from before you were born.

What if I don't know parts of their life?

That's normal. "I don't know" is a fine answer. We never invent facts: we write around what's missing, and family can fill in a memory.

Can I make a book in memory of someone?

Yes. Choose "in their memory" at the start and the questions and tone adapt, with gentler wording and your letter as what you would tell them now.

Will it arrive in time?

Tell us the date you'll give it. The digital book is usually ready 5 to 10 days after you finish; the hardcover takes about 7 to 14 days more to print and ship.

Can I check the book before it's printed?

Yes. You read the full manuscript first and can ask for changes. Nothing is printed until you approve.

Who reads my answers?

Only the people and systems that make your book. Our privacy policy explains how long we keep them and how to ask for deletion.

Can I order extra copies?

Yes, for siblings, grandchildren or the rest of the family, at any time after your book is approved.

Keep it forever

Their story is still here. Write it down.
